ABOUT THE SERIES

Bean is an agent with the Fury Three.

Well, agent-in-training is more accurate. No way is he ready for an actual mission but he is hoping and trying and, who knows!

"The Fury Three were a group of three top of the line cats in a Special Ops unit contracted by the government to carry out high ranking missions. Bean and a few others worked behind the scenes to assist the Fury Three, so he felt that he wasn't just some pipsqueak cat; he was valuable."

Bean is a brownish-orange Abyssinian and in comparison with the actual members of the famous and intimidating Fury Three, he was indeed quite small as the Three were of the large-cat variety and he not so much. Concerning the Fury Three, we are told that they were "the most important Special Ops team in the whole organization". They are technically led by Matthew, an average sized Bengal cat whose "skills  rested in managerial tasks". The Fury Three, known only by a color codename, were:

Red - a snow leopard. While he is not technically the leader of the team, he definitely has the best leadership skills.
Blue - a cougar. Though he is said to be "vicious-looking" and indeed looks intimidating, Bean knows firsthand that he is "one of the kindest cats" Bean has ever known. Blue is "an expert in coming up with efficient strategies".
Green - a cheetah. He is strongest cat that Bean had ever known so it is no surprise that Green is also the best fighter in the world.

So why would these three need someone relatively small and puny like Bean, despite Bean having repeatedly shown that he is exceptionally swift and agile? That is a good question that Bean asks himself more than twice. Whatever the answer might have been when he was first selected, it changes quite a bit when the whole group goes up against the diabolical super-criminal known only as Mr. Hampster.

MY COMMENTS

Apparently fresh off having created a short series about Spy Dogs, author Amma Lee decided to given equal treatment to the other more common pet, the cat. Just as with the tales about the clandestine canines (I'm rather proud of that one), these are entertaining tales (tails?) which should appeal to the young audiences they were crafted for. I would not have minded having had them for my youngest child, a big time animal lover but she was already an adult when they came out. So, I had to read them to myself. Just as with the Dogs, the age group of 9-12 really should be lower, though.
