ABOUT THE SERIES

Secret Agent 00K9 is an agent with TerrierDyne.

In case you had not heard of it before, we are told it "is an elaborate facility with animals working at desks, answering phones, working on computers, monitoring complex control panels and dispatching secret animal spies located around the world. It is a network of animals professionally trained in the underworld of espionage. Animals of all shapes and sizes roam through the futuristic structure, pushing mail carts and working on electronic equipment, with the occasional explosion tossing a technician or two into the air."

It is located at the bottom of a deserted valley behind 20-foot steel walls. Inside, the operations are directed by Pierre Poopenheimmer, the founder and president. Despite being French, there is nothing poodle-ish about this large ?Great Dane? who seldom minces words about anything. He has an "unattractive male Pug" as his assistant with the unfortunate name of "Princess".

His very best operative, and apparently his very first one, is Secret Agent 00K9, a tall, lanky ?Beagle? often seen dressed to the nines in a tuxedo. For your pronunciation needs, his name is said "Double Oh Kay Nine". The canine operative lives for danger and excitement and every day seems to bring him something to prove yet again how incredible he is. He also enjoys the company of sexy alluring canine ladies so maybe it is more accurate to call him a hound dog.

On his many missions, 00K9 will often make use of a hi-tech robot suit with built-in controls (so cool!!). He will also be allowed to frolic about with sports cars, jet boats, and motorcycles and even make use of scuba gear while investigating in the ocean. Most of these are developed by the super genius "high tech gadget specialist", Fleabag, a mousey-looking little, little fellow who we are told despite his appearance is a cat.

I have found mentions of these three short films as having been shown, perhaps at different times, at the Palm Spring Comic Con. For this reason I have placed the scanty intel that I have in this Movie section.

IMDb lists them as being episodes of television and since they know more about these things than I do ....

Wherever they belong, here is the little bit I know.

MY COMMENTS

I am usually leery when I start a series about anthropomorphized animals being spies. Will it be silly? Will I be bored to tears? Well, kinda the first but not much of the second.

I have no idea what prompted the creator/writer Brian Neil Hoff to go with the use of dogs as his agents, other than the ability to give the chap a Double O designation. That was clever, I will grant him. But having gone this route, he went down it pretty well with giving the main character, 00K9, a lot to work with. Lots of good parodied bad guys and a supporting cast that was as interesting as the hero, especially Tinky Bigmoore.
