SANDRA WEST

Sandra West is a freelance agent.

She was for quite some time a famed operative working T.H.E.M. but now she is on her own and quite happy about it. Just because she is not in the immediate employment of that organization, though, does not mean her work against their arch-nemesis, T.H.E.Y., is over; she spends a good deal of her effort countering T.H.E.Y.'s activities.

Who exactly are those two groups? Good question. The little we are told is that T.H.E.M. are the good guys, fighting on behalf of all the decent people of this world. T.H.E.Y., on the other hand, are a group of really not nice people out to control that same world. It is a typical case of T.H.E.Y. against T.H.E.M.

Of course, being such an independent and extremely active operative, there are others who would love to see her breathing no more. This includes, but is not limited to, the League of Assassins who have placed a sizeable bounty on her head.

We first meet West as she, already listed as a former-T.H.E.M. agent, spends a good deal of her time protecting the backside of the man we assume to be her lover, certainly her very close friend, the costumed crimefighter/super-spy, Superseven (Seven to his friends, Super to the ladies).

West is an extremely good looking and very sexy operative. Her agility and athletic abilities are quite impressive as are her skills with firearms, that talent being demonstrated over and over much to the suffering of her adversaries. She even shows at least once a talent for firing over her left shoulder to dispatch an opponent approaching from behind.

West comes to her espionage talents naturally (her tendencies to handle situations with extreme prejudice, not so much). We learn that her mother, Felicity West, was an operative for many years, including all the time she was raising her daughter Sandra. And according to the bio given in the trailer for the adventures of this intriguing secret operative, James West, of the <i>Wild Wild West</i> fame, was her great-great grandfather, and Honey West, famous private detective and for a while secret agent herself, was her grandmother.

     I indicated in the sister series to this one (Superseven) that I enjoyed these webisodes, especially the fact that they were all short enough to not be boring. I was especially interested in the costar of that show and was pleased to learn that she finally got her own show a couple years later.

     West is a hoot to watch, someone who is both earnest in what she does and does not take herself too seriously at all. She has fun and watching her have fun is a lot of fun for the viewer.

     I would have loved to have found some short stories written about her (hint! hint!). I doubt I will but if written with the same irreverence, they would have been, well, fun!
