According to the bio on Amazon: "Pete enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve when he was a junior in high school. He went on active duty when he graduated high school and was trained as a Cryptologic Technician. During his Navy career, he served overseas, aboard ship and in the United States. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant after 20 years of active duty in the field of communications intelligence.

Following retirement from the Navy, Pete had mini-careers in the defense, aviation, and health care industries.
