According to the bio on his website: "A California native with a Master’s in English literature, Bill McGinnis has written numerous books and created Whitewater Voyages, a leading California river rafting company. Whitewater Rafting, The Guide’s Guide, and The Guide’s Guide Augmented all went into multiple printings, are read worldwide, and are considered bibles of river rafting and professional whitewater guiding. McGinnis’s other works include Sailing the Greek Islands: Dancing with Cyclops and Disaster on the Clearwater: Rafting Beyond the Limit.
McGinnis’ first novel Whitewater: A Thriller interweaves a rough-and-tumble murder mystery, lyrical nature writing, his holistic, nurturing philosophy, and a breathtaking series of white-knuckle encounters in and out of the rapids of California’s Kern River. Gold Bay is a sequel to Whitewater: A Thriller, but the two books can be read in any order, or separately.
Bill grew up roaming the hills and creeks of the East Bay, and exploring San Francisco Bay by raft, canoe and sailboat. In addition to writing, sailing and rafting, McGinnis’s passions include hiking, biking, woodworking, tai chi chih, staring into space, listening to audiobooks while deep-water walking, and exploring new paths to adventure, friendship and growth. Bill lives beside San Pablo Creek in El Sobrante, a town in Contra Costa County across the Bay from San Francisco."
