The undisputed queen of mystery, Agatha Christie (nee Miller) was born in Torquay, Devon, England. She taught herself how to read at age 4 and had an inquisitive mind her whole life. When she was 24, she married Archibald Christie and soon had a daughter. When her husband's work took him on a world tour as an organizer, she went with him and traveled to many of the places she would later use in her fiction. The marriage to Christie ended in 1928 but since she had started writing in 1920 and was already quite well known and popular, she kept the name as her pseudonym throughout her life. While Dame Agatha is included in this collection because of her Tommy and Tuppence spy/mystery novels, she is, of course, best known as the creator of two of mystery's greatest detectives, the incomparable Belgian Hercule Poirot and the elderly spinster Miss Marple. Note: Due to so many of the short stories and novellas Dame Agatha wrote and which were republished in different combinations, this list is definitely only a partial.
