Robert Davis took an odd road to becoming a novelist. He had been a medical doctor but became hooked on drugs and alcohol. He needed some way to pay for these addictions and his method got him arrested, tried, and convicted of mail fraud. It was while in prison that he got forcibly sober and it was in prision he started writing.
