While looking for letters supposedly between Churchill and Mussolini, Cotton Malone gets entangled with a different search by a Catholic Cardinal seeking a document from the 4th century and the legendary Knights of Malta. The latter is a humanitarian organization but inside it is the Secreti, a small group with its own agenda.
