Cutter Grogan is a private investigator.
Not licensed, mind you. His history makes getting a permit from the state of New York, where he calls home and spends a lot of his time when he is not abroad, very difficult. A stint in prison will do that. Instead of a sheet of embossed paper hanging on a wall with his name on it, he works in, and half owner of, a one-man agency his friend Arnedra inherited from her late husband. Since he cannot legally refer to himself as a private eye like I just did, he answers the question of what his job was by saying he was a 'fixer'.
A couple of interesting buzz lines given about Grogan and his adventures tell us: "When the system fails, Cutter Grogan steps in." and "He served in the world's most dangerous hotspots and sacrificed everything for his country. His military file has more redactions than words." I particularly like that last part. Also: "The media calls him The Fixer. He uses his specialist skills to help those whom the system let down." And finally another good one with: "No one does vengeance like Cutter Grogan. He's made it part of his Fixing business."
Grogan, a former Delta Force operative who made an impressive name for himself in the Middle East fighting terror cells stands 6'1" and maintains an impressive physique. "Styled, dark hair. Green eyes. Clean-shaven ... Because of his deep tan, he could easily pass for someone from the Mediterranean region. Or the Middle East, South America, North Africa-a vast range of geographies." Could and has, including going undercover for two years in a super-max prison on behalf of his nation and in order to survive there, took the identity of a Daesh captured in a raid.
When he completed his last mission for the government and decided to start a new life as a fixer in New York, he had thought he put all that behind him and for a large degree he has. Several of the adventures we follow him on are outside the parameters of this compendium but enough are not that he belongs here and even when he is not helping out some government agency or other, his actions seem to find in the thick of things.
