ABOUT THE SERIES

The Clark Siblings, aka the Amazing Spiez, are agents of WOOHP.

As we first discovered a while back while studying the adventures of three pretty amazing young ladies who were known as Totally Spies and worked for the same organization, WOOHP stands for World Organization Of Human Protection. It was founded by and is still directed by Gerald James "Jerry" Lewis, a middle-aged, balding, tall and slim, ever-so-serious British gentleman. It is he who, according to the Wiki about the group, "is responsible for briefing the girls on their missions, as well as for providing them with their gadgets at the start of each [mission]. Poor Jerry is cursed, it seems, in that everyone that he is close to in his personal life turns out to be a super-villain of one sort or another.

Like with that other team, Jerry has chosen youngsters to train and use as operatives fighting all sorts of very bad and dangerous villains, such as the invisible person blowing holes in things for unknown reasons in Tokyo in the first recorded adventure. When we meet the Clark kids, also known as Spiez (don't know why the spelling is like that but I liked it!), they are arriving in Japan in a super-sleek ultra-fast jet that they are piloting themselves. Without hesitation and dressed in very cool battle dress, they leap out of the hovering plane, track down and confront the bad guy (who unfortunately gets away), and then leap back into the plane to head swiftly back to the States to get to school on time. Just another day of learning and saving the world.

I refer to the team as the Clark Siblings because they are in fact all members of the same family. The team consists of (taken from the excellent descriptions given on Wikipedia):

Leeland "Lee" Clark - the oldest at age 13 and considered the strongest one. He is very athletic and the most powerful spy in the group. While his two brothers share funny and immature traits, Lee is one part big brother and one part father figure, and in his eyes, nothing is more important than his siblings. He is also the jet pilot and is often shown to be claustrophobic. In addition, he has a habit of going crazy over girls, which is similar to Clover's boy-craziness. In his normal appearance, Lee has auburn colored hair in the style of a flat top, pale blue eyes, and light skin.
Marcus "Marc" Clark - the smartest one in the group at age 12. Much like Sam, his intelligence is sometimes considered freaky by his siblings. He calls himself the 'Family Geek'. He has the knowledge of every single subject known to man, but 'like most geeks' cannot get a date. In his normal appearance, Marc has short light brown hair, hazel eyes and light skin.
Megan Clark - an optimistic and high energy 12-year-old girl who is Marc's fraternal twin sister. She always hangs out with her brothers and usually cracks up at jokes that are not funny at all. She is big on saving the environment and is trying to find ways to reduce her family's carbon footprint. She is often reminded by her brothers that she is 'just a girl', but this pushes her to be even more competitive. In her normal appearance, Megan has black hair swept up in the back, green eyes and dark skin.
Anthony "Tony" Clark - the youngest sibling of the Clark family who is 11 years old. He is a no-nonsense go-getter and very hyperactive boy. He is impatient and prefers to act before even thinking, which sometimes leads the spies into deep trouble. Tony, like Megan, has black hair that is swept up one way and down the other and also has green eyes and dark skin.

By the way, the Clark Siblings are the children of Cal and Karen Clark, two former agents of an organization known as OOPSIE who have no idea their four offspring are out there risking their lives every day/episode.

MY COMMENTS

As a pre-tween kid on the farm, I was hooked on cartoon shows (once we actually got a television set). There was nothing like this show then (yeah, Mighty Mouse) but had there been, I would have been so very much addicted to it. Even now researching the show while watching on YouTube, I was impressed.

Of course, being an old fogey with grown children and a wonderful granddaughter, I have to ask when seeing these four risking their lives every day - Where are the parents! And then I just grin and go back to watching these four kids - who got along with each other a whole lot better than I and my siblings did - tackle loads of different types of impossible problems and come up with cool solutions.
