Aisling Keane, aka the Secret Agent Witch, is an agent with Dragonfly.
That is a "secretive group" with an interesting logo seen by all those entering the classified regions of its headquarters: "Deception Without and Truth Within". "The reference was to the organization's creation, an alliance of several countries that professed neutrality during World War I but actually worked covertly against the Germans and their allies. The initial group included Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and Spain. It expanded over the years to include several more countries and now numbered twelve, including Aisling's own country, Ireland. Dragonfly was dedicated to addressing intelligence and criminal issues of international significance that the larger agencies ignored."
The nickname for the star of this series of adventures, "Secret Agent Witch" comes because Keane is an operative with this hush-hush organization, thus fulfilling the "secret agent", and she is a witch. She's got a boatload of incantations she is skilled at reciting, all the better to channel her inner power to achieve some pretty nifty paranormal results. Not everyone in the agency has powers like she does. A lot do. A lot more do not. "Dragonfly personnel included a mix of magical and non-magical" and since the "truth within" parts holds up, those without magic are well aware of those that are with.
When we first meet Keane, she is not a field agent. She would like to be but initially she is placed in a role of "'investigator' in the nomenclature of the organization". In practice, that meant she and her colleagues in the department spent most of their time at headquarters reviewing evidence gathered by agents or examining objects brought back from the field. It wasn't quite what Aisling had envisioned when Annika Lind had recruited her for Dragonfly, but she'd come to believe in the mission of the organization and understand that every role was vital." Her staying in the HQ instead of braving the outside will change right away in the famous 'be careful what you wish for' scenario.
Keane is a white woman with reddish-brown hair worn to just above the nape of her neck. She is probably in her mid-20s, slender with a good figure and a somewhat athletic build. She eschews the use of a standard wand to channel her magicks, preferring to make use of several wooden rings she wears, created for her from her old want by a dwarvish friend of hers.
