Martin Forn is a former agent with Interpol.
How former is a bit of unknown but it has been a few years. Not enough to keep his fellow agents from wanting him back in the fold for yet another assignment, an action that he is resisting strongly because he is retired from that organization and wants very much to stay retired. Except...
As the first recorded adventure begins, he gets a visit from an old colleague who tries to entice him into a mission and then asks him how long it has been since he killed a man. That was an unusual question to be asked in an unusual way. It was even more noteworthy when Forn lets us, the readers, know that "I needed to kill a man so badly, in that moment, my hand started shaking. While we do not yet know a whole lot about Forn, that statement certainly made an impact.
I do not know exactly what sort of department inside Interpol Forn worked for because we get intimations of a whole lot of very messy, dangerous, and impactful missions carried out by Forn and his associates over the years in troublespots all around the world. Not exactly a law enforcement liaison sort of assignment. It is possible I misunderstood but it is also possible that Interpol was just a cover for whoever Forn and people really worked for. One thing for certain, Forn is not a man to mess with because he has quite a few guns, a ton of ammunition, the skill to use both correctly, and apparently a lot of land out back.
There are some confusing aspects to Forn that I was not able to get fully straight in my head. He may be a member of the Shawnee tribe; if he is not, he is intimately connected to them. I believe the former. He is married to Clara, a beautiful woman even at her no-longer-young age. Clara is also someone you do not ever want to mess with because she knows a lot of ways to make you very sorry you did and she has no hesitation using them. She is also, apparently, the illegitimate daughter of the current Russian President/Dictator which throws a major complication into all their lives.
And Martin and Clara are the parents of a grown daughter engaged to another Shawnee member, Johnathan Corn-Walters, "the last living son of Tenskwatawa the Shawnee Prophet" which makes him somebody in the eyes of the Tribe.
And then there is the religious cult, Starology, which have their headquarters nearby and have something very much against Forn and his family.
Life is odd at the Forn home.
