Morgan Winfeld is an agent for ACTI.
That acronym stands for the Agency for Crime and Terror Interception. "As an international agency most members of the public didn't know ACTI existed. Few countries who contributed to it knew what ACTI stood for, but governments around the world knew who to call when they needed covert operations, including good old fashioned spy work combined with cutting edge technology." "The agency is created through international cooperation, and agents are from all over the world" with its headquarters in London. "The U.S. administration doesn't want a lot do with us, except when we can bail them out somewhere in Europe. They prefer to have their own agencies handling American things, but the United Kingdom, much of Europe, and the Commonwealth have seen the benefits of what we can do. They want what we offer."
Those were all snippets of explanation that Winfeld will reveal to others that explain a good deal about the organization for which she has work for some time. Morgan is in her forties, and as she ponders more than once, "she could easily be a retired spy who writes stories about her wild past and drinks Scotch, except she likes the work and there's always another job to do". Another interesting fact is that being a covert operative is demanding, dangerous work, and Morgan doesn't know how to exist without it. As a colleague points out, her normal "leather jacket and jeans uniform nicely conveys our badass attitude for getting things done".
One other very, very important aspect to Winfeld which not only helps her immensely with her work but also causes her a lot of mental anguish from time to time is the fact that she is most definitely psychic. She gets on rare occasions visions of things about to happen. She had a finely honed intuition that lets her read people very well, and she even acquires the skill at not only actually reading someone's mind but also occasionally planting thoughts in their heads. A very good talent to have.
Good Lines:
- Comment made by Morgan to colleagues about her mood at one point, "I'm worried and my inner cynic is having a heyday in my head".
