Remmich and Miller are officers in the U.S. Army.
The two men were roommates and good friends while attending the West Point Army Academy and both, upon graduation, would find themselves sent into the same line of work, albeit in different parts of the world. As often happens with military lives and periodic post transfers, the two men lost contact over the ensuing years but would be reunited when both would be assigned to 32nd Security Intelligence in Hindenburg Kaserne, Würzburg, Germany. There not only would their friendship be reestablished but both men, each holding the rank of Major, would find themselves the targets of Tariq'Allah, a very secretive branch of Iraqi Intelligence.
Eric Miller is the first of the two that we meet. A tall, clean-cut black man, he is taking part in a seminar at the United Nations International Military Institute when he is approached by two members of the Iraqi spy organization Tariq'Allah. Their attempt to bribe him into procuring classified intel for them turns very unpleasant when he refuses, this leading to gunplay, one man's death, and Miller finding himself swiftly transferred. Soon after we meet him, he meets Candice, a former USAF pilot now working for both Delta Airlines and, not so overtly, the CIA.
Paul Stanley Remmich is the other part of this unofficial partnership. He, too, is an American citizen though he grew up in London and has a distinctive British accent. His father was a representative of the U.S. at the embassy there. Thanks to his father's connections and his own achievements, Remmich was also accepted into West Point. As we meet him, this short sandy blond haired man is engaged to Lily, a Dutch citizen living in Amsterdam.
The adventures that Remmich and Miller will have all seem to revolve around Tariq'Allah and its determination to force either or both into secretly working for it.
