Richard Todd is an agent with MI6.
As far as most of those in the world who were acquainted with Todd knows, he is a traveling business consultant who is away from his beloved East End of London for a couple weeks now and then - quite often these days - only to return to the part of the City where he grew up to resume his normal, dull life. Except for his impressive skill at karate shown at the local dojo, there was not much that he let show to make people remember him.
We first meet Todd a few years before he goes to work for the Firm. In that earlier meeting, he is a sergeant with the British Army's Third Commando unit serving in Afghanistan. He served several tours in that sandpit before leaving the service to take a job with Global Corporation, a powerful and impressive private security company the British government made ample use of. From there he would make the transition to MI6 and become the operative we follow in his own adventures.
After a short time with the intelligence agency, Todd began to be assigned especially difficult missions and when he returned successfully from them, although sometimes a bit batters and more often having left an explosive trail of destruction in his wake, literally, he has earned the trust of Sir Reginald, senior MI6 counsel and a very hard man to impress, as well as the Director of the agency. As a result, he is now given "mission of unique danger or delicacy".
As far as I can determine, Todd is unmarried and largely unattached, which is likely a good thing because his life expectancy is not that good, not to mention he is hardly home very long as it is.
