James Thomas is an agent with the CIA.
He was, for a while. Then he wasn't for some time. Then he sort of is again. It is an impressive career for a very impressive man, and one filled with a lot of mystery and danger.
At one time Thomas' role for the Agency was that of assassin; he removed problems, silently and efficiently. Back then he went by the name of Liam Smith. Then he, his brother and fellow agent, Deacon, and a female agent named Nicole had a disagreement of sorts with Langley and decided leaving was the best idea. That sort of departure, though, tends to upset the top floor and some harsh feelings had to be changed. When they couldn't be, it seemed best if Liam Smith became part of the deceased. Enter James Thomas.
A man's got to eat and pay bills and when the only job you've had for more than a few years is that of assassin, the choices of viable new careers looks limited. Not wanting to continue killing as a living, newly-created Thomas decided to put his talents to use in the opposite direction. Instead of killing people - bad people in his case - he would work to keep good people alive.
It made pretty good sense as he had learned a lot about getting around involved security layouts in order to get at his intended targets. He could use that knowledge to find ways of shoring up security of his new clients. He and Deacon created Thomas Security and soon he had an impressive number of former operatives working for him and an even more impressive list of customers who were grateful to still be alive and so sang his company's praises.
But his old life would not stay dead and enemies from then, and a few newly made ones, would very much like to see Liam Smith/James Thomas truly dead and buried.
Oh, one final small item. His brother, Deacon, about whom there are a couple of solo adventures, is not really his brother. Not biologically, anyways. Makes no difference to them, though.
