Ryan Mitchell is an agent with Polaris Operations.
Most people would call him an employee but considering the type of work he does for that organization, changing that to agent or operative is definitely justified. Mitchell is an expert in counter-terrorism operations.
Polaris is a private security firm, created and run by Major-General Jacl O'Reilly, that deals in a nice variety of things needing military skills and experience while coupling those with intelligence gathering and utilization. We will meet Mitchell as he is on an assignment training a Phillipines army unit new tactics in terrorist stronghold infiltration and hostage rescue but he will also be involved in bodyguard duty and search and rescue work; whatever his current assignment might be, he was certain it would likely be dangerous and never be boring.
Mitchell is the lead on a small team and he comes to that position after a considerable amount of experience in the Middle East, especially Afghanistan where he was a U.S. Army Ranger working in "a combined NATO Special Operations Task Faroce assigned to track down and eliminate" high0value targets"
The other members of his group, each of which play vital roles in the success of the team, are:
Nate Jackson: Partner and best friend to Mitchell and definitely a man to have your back, he is a heavyset black man who serves as a great advice-man and someone to always have his six. They served in the Rangers together for quite a while.
Samantha Chen: The team's medic who was part of the 82nd Airborne and worked with Mitchell and Jackson over there. She is described as a short slender woman who "was just as deadly with a rifle as any man on the team".
Gordon Cardinal: a Canadian from their part of the Rockies, he was the team's sniper and surveillance expert, a role he served in Afghanistan. He is said to be "as cool as a mountain glacier; nothing ever seemed to faze him".
Yuri Uvarov: The gadgets man for the team, a "Russian former black marketer, who sort of fell into our laps a while back". His love of and knowledge of 'toys' is impressive.
We will meet the beautiful and highly impressive historian, Jennifer March, in his first recorded adventure and their relationship will play a vital role in his life from that moment on. On her initial meeting of Mitchell, coming after he had just rescued her from a kidnapping, gives us a very good description of the man: "[he] stood just over six feet and had a trim athletic build. Mitchell had thick brown hair, cut short. His skin was tanned. She could tell that he was a man who spent a lot of his life outdoors. Jen thought that Mitchell had a rugged, confident air about him, which she suspected women liked".
Jennifer is very important to the series. And so is the do-not-mess-with-her Grace Maxwell. Wow, is she a blast - sometimes literally.
