Lucy Heron is an agent with the Silver Griffins.
Now, we are not told a whole lot about the nature of the Silver Griffins. It is obviously a large organization because references to its L.A. office show it containing a large number of staff members, all of them scurrying around as they go about doing, well, whatever they are supposed to be doing. And that is just one office as we are led to believe that there are offices all over the world. Big group. Lots of responsibilities.
What the people of the Silver Griffins do is to keep order in the magic world. Yep, magic. Mind you, this is the same world you and I live in all without knowing that magical beings exist around us. Gnomes, elves, fairies, beings like that (I almost typed 'creatures' but that would have been rude). These and many more exotic lifeforms that we humans know about only because of fairy tales coexist with us and many of them have access to magic artifacts as well as innate abilities to do very strange things. And fighting to keep everything safe and orderly and, most importantly, beyond human awareness, is the organization that Heron belongs to, the Silver Griffins.
An important point here: despite the odd name for her employer, Heron is not a griffin. She is a witch. The tag line for her adventures let us know that she is an 'urban witch' who is 'fighting supernatural crime from a minivan while keeping the magical world a secret'. She is a very good looking human (well?!?) woman who lives in a very nice house in the nice neighborhood of Echo Park. She is married to Charlie, and is the mother of three children: Dylan, boy, 12, Ashley, girl, 8, and Eddie, boy, 3.
She is also Agent 485 with the Griffins. She has been an operative with that organization for over a decade when we first meet her and she is doing a fine job (well, not in her mind) balancing the duties of an undercover agent fighting magical infractions while also being part of the local PTA and baking. She is a whiz at baking.
