Elizabeth Towne is an agent for the American President.
Codenamed Foxfire, as indicated by title of the adventures that exist of her and her team, had been an agent in excellent standing and reputation with the CIA until a mole inside the agency, apparently worried about her getting too close to him/her, framed her for a crime she did not do and she was put in prison for the next four years.
Upon her release she understandably held considerable resentment towards the Agency and government in general so it is not surprising that when she was approached about working in her old profession, she was refused. "I was forcibly retired," she barks in response and her answer was a firm no.
Until, however, she was told if she were to take on one incredibly difficult but vital mission, her name would be cleared and she would be given a full Presidential pardon. Assuming, of course, she survived.
The offer was made to her by Larry Hutchins, the brother of the sitting President, working in the shadows of government to handle complicated and sensitive issues on behalf of his elder sibling.
Helping her in this mission are two people she had met while incarcerated. Maggie Bryan, nicknamed "The Cat", is an African American female who is a highly experienced and capable con woman. Danny O'Toole is a white female who has the ability to drive just about any type of vehicle. Both women are totally different from Towne/Foxfire as well as from each other but each possess skills that Town knows she needs.
Also along to provide assistance (not sure why) is Phillips, a man in his early 70s, who operates as her butler/
