ABOUT THE SERIES

Phil Jackson is a freelance agent affiliated with British Intelligence.

The affiliation is a supposition on my part and one that apparently those in that organization would argue, especially since it appears that he is on their most-wanted list. And that list is not a good one.

The year is 1914. The continent is Europe and it is one just feeling the effects of the conflicts between the major powers in that area. Germany has recently declared war on France and is massing troops on its western borders preparing to attack.

In this ever-increasing tumult the operative known by the codename of Geminis will do his part in stopping the advances of the team-up of Germany and Austria-Hungary. This will entail not only fighting in the field but also providing valuable intelligence back to England. This latter is interesting because even as he has gotten himself on the 'capture-at-any-cost' list by the British, in his clandestine role as 'Geminis' he has provided valuable intel to Department A-2 of British Intelligence. We know it is provided surreptitiously because one of those in authority reviewing the information passed to them wonders "who the devil this Geminis is and why he's helping us."

We know very little about Jackson. How he came to be doing what he does and why he is in such bad graces is not known. What his personal life was or is like is also a mystery. All we really know about this thin, wiry man with blond hair and long sideburns is that he seems to enjoy putting his life in danger. That and the man can get around as he finds action in England, France, possibly Spain, and on down to Morocco.

Jackson will find how difficult life can be when both sides of a conflict want you dead.

MY COMMENTS

Let's see! Really well written stories told swiftly and surely from beginning to end. Terrific artwork that made reading these adventures not only easy on the eye but a pleasure as well. A character that, though we do not get told very much about, is still a lot of fun to follow. One heckuva package deal.

Usually when I find a British comics series I like as much as I did this one, it has two or three stories and then is gone for good. This one at least gave us 8 that I know of and for that I am very appreciative.
