Stephen Connor is an agent with the CIA.
He will be.
Before that he is a computer tech for the CIA. This is in the wee early days of computers in the Intelligence community. He is a techie, not an agent at all though he has somewhat grandiose plans which, oddly, will come true.
Before that he is a computer tech for the NSA. NSA was the main front-runner in the field of integrating computers into intelligence gathering and analysis and was constantly taking technology from all over the spectrum and finding ways to meld it into use by them.
Before that he was a college student at San Francisco State with his graduation coming up and knowing that Vietnam was a very likely graduation present heading his way and wondering what his options were. That is when he is approached to become part of that Intelligence community.
The recorded adventures about Connor deal with three distinct period in his life.
The first goes over all that I mentioned above; how he went from college to the NSA to the CIA as a computer nerd and then to being an actual field agent, a span of time from 1968 to 1982. The second and third will deal with periods after shorter periods after that.
During those periods we will follow Connor as he transitions from being what he considers the antithesis of an athlete, "I could not accurately throw, hit, or catch any type of ball." to becoming a fitness enthusiast. He moves from being a person who would cross a street a block before any chance of a 'situation' to being someone who eagerly learned and practiced krav maga. And he will slowly evolve from being the type of guy we would now refer to as "the guy in the van" to being the guy going into the dark alley for a dangerous meeting.
It's an interesting road he takes.
