"Began his showbusiness career in 1954 as a stand-up comedian in a double act with Leslie Garbon. Spooner later turned to writing gags and sketches for other comedians and then became a writer of espionage, crime and science fiction scripts for TV series. Initially with the BBC, he formed a long creative association with ITC in 1966/67, eventually as creator or co-creator of top shows, like Department S (1969) and My Partner the Ghost (1969)."
