JOHN P. MARQUAND

1893 - 1960

Writing as: John P. Marquand

One of the most celebrated American authors of the 30s, John Marquand came from a well-to-do Massachusetts family that lost most of their money in a financial downturn. This allowed the author to see how both sides live. He is best known for his Mr. Moto tales but he did many other works that received critical and commercial success, including The Late George Apley for which he won a Pulitzer Prize in 1938.
