DAVID ATLEE PHILLIPS

An agent for the CIA for a quarter century, Mr. Phillips eventually became that agency's chief of operations for the Western hemisphere. He left the CIA in the mid-70s to be able to counter attacks against the agency in the press by making speeches around the country advocating the need for the spy organization. He is the brother of fellow writer, James Atlee Phillips, aka Phillip Atlee, author of the Joe Gall series.
