A reunion of 266 Squadron is taking place in Cape Town. Biggles, Algy, and Ginger are en route but stop over in Cairo on the way. There they are enticed to help a young archaeologist search for a fabled lost oasis. Biggles at first did not want to but when he is warned off, he naturally agrees.
