A sort-of friend of Willie Garvin, Dolores, wants to know what happened to her missing sister and when Garvin doesn't leap to find out, she looks into it. This poses a problem for the white slavers who took the sister so the man and woman team hire an assassin to stop her and later Garvin and Modesty Blaise.
