It turns out that the opium trafficking was all part of a much larger espionage operation run by a man known as 'Big Boy', a genius with doctorates in multiple disciplines and the skill to create a hood of invisibility to keep his true identify. All that is seen above the man's shoulders is his long cigarette holder and a pair of pince-nez.
