Dr. Wu and Myra North, along with their pilot hotshot, Mac, are asked to fly to Honolulu to help when the "War Department hears ominous rumors of [a] plot to destroy [the] U.S. Pacific Fleet". This plot would come from Germanic forces using a large number of submarines. North and Wu are able to stop them. Interestingly, and a tad eerily, the German fleet is destroyed off the coast of Hawaii by a surprise air attack by a large number of U.S. fighters. Remember, this defense took place in August of 41; the actual Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor would happen roughly four months later.
