At the very end of the last adventure, Jack Lane was injured severely in the head. He is now suffering greatly from it and being taken to a hospital where his perceived rival for Myra North's affection, Dr. Jason, is now working doesn't help his delusions. Jason recommends that the two join him as he visits a wealthy client in Florida. The client is a Mr. Arnold who owns an impressive estate on a cay. On their flight there they are approached by a man named Nolan who begs for help and seems to need it as gunmen await their arrival. The secret behind the mystery lies with the manufacture of synthetic gems of all sorts.
