Johnny Hazard is watching a road race along a wall, standing next to another viewer, when an accident sends one of the cars careening towards them. Hazard shouts a warning and dives out of the way but the other man is not so fast and is killed. Finding the man's wallet with an "in case of death" notice, Hazard does just that and lands in the middle of a plot by El Kaleef, former ruler of a North African nation and his plans to return to his country and wrest control back from the current leader, El Scimitar.
