While racing to catch Cousin Bertie in the previous adventure, Johnny Hazard commandeered a sports car passing by, getting the helmeted driver to give chase. An accident resulted and Hazard discovered the dazed but uninjured driver was the Contessa di Fiori, heiress to a major Italian car manufacturer who was heading to a major road race to show off her company's latest model. Hazard decides to accompany her on her trip just to make sure she was alright. This lands him in a new adventure where the schematics for that model had been stolen and hidden in one of the tires and a very greedy man with some nasty minions are after it.
