When Uncle Pete heard Fireball was in France, he asked his ward to visit Jacques Beaune, an ex-wartime Resistance fighter. He was waylaid en route by a man shooting with a tranquilizer dart, all to arrange a meeting with a man named Marshall, head of the CIA Paris Station. Marshall thinks Beaune is working with the Reds and wants Fireball to investigate.
