Fireball is waterskiing in Alberta with an old friend, Tom Bowley, who runs a charter air service in the province. When Bowley gets injured and breaks a leg, Fireball offers to help with the latest flight. The charter turns out to be "a bunch of killers known as the Durkin Gang on the run after a couple of murders in Winnipeg".
