A month before the events of this adventure, a huge ruby dubbed the Keeler Ruby was found by archaeologists. It is now on display in a major museum which has asked the Scooby Gang to look into the worry that the ruby is cursed. As the Gang visit for the first time, a very large and quite angry mummy appears out of nowhere, smashes the case, and snatches the gem, chasing the Gang out of the room. It is there that they encounter the Quest team who were there to do their own investigations. The two teams join forces. They will discover the true culprit is the notorious Doctor Zin wanting the ruby to make complete his latest invetion, the Scarlet Death Ray!
