The year is 1987. Rumors have come in of a plot to kill Gorbachev, the actual deed being given to a person known only as the Red Wolf. The President tells the CIA to stop the killing and they in turn subcontract it to the Pallas Group. That organization picks new hire Jo Ann Geary, the White Vixen, for the job but it soon becomes obvious that someone in the Agency does not want her to stop the Red Wolf and will do anything to keep her from keeping him from failing.
