Two vampires are found eviscerated in different hotels in Boston and the clues are nearly non-existent. As Lawson's frustration at getting nowhere grows, he is forced to pull in a human police homicide detective, very much a no-no to the Council. Greatly complicating matters is the fact that the killer is using magic to mask all activity.
