ABOUT THE SERIES

Anonymoose, aka Agent Moose, is an agent with the Woodland Special Branch.

Two tag lines deal with this operative, one funny and the other interesting.

The latter is "Solving Mysteries one disguise at a time"; the interesting part being how in the world a moose (yes, he is an actual moose, anthropomorphized so he walks on two legs and loves to wear a suit and tie) might disguise himself as something other than, well, a moose. I mean, the big body would be a challenge and those huge antlers ... hmmm.

The funny is that he is "the best (worst) secret agent in the Big Forest". Of course, that is also interesting as it makes me wonder how many other secret agents there are in the Big Forest. Logic tells us that if he is the one and only, he is automatically both the best and the worse. I might be overthinking this.

A fact sheet is given us at the beginning of the first recorded adventure. From it we know that he is "extremely large" (kinda figured that one out already) with "antlers, dark brown hide, small birthmark that looks a little like North Dakota". Under 'Talents' we find listed "master of disguise, spying, investigating the strange (and possibly strange) goings-on in Woodland Territories; surprisingly a world-renowned Twister player". His favorite drink is chocolate milk, shaken not stirred.

He has as his assistant the "not-quite-so-special agent" Owlfred, an owl who likes to wear a way too small bowler hat. He is small enough that he can fit in a moose's pocket. His distinguishing feathers are: "gray, feathery, can do that weird owl thing where they twist their head most of the way around (but it makes him slightly motion sick). His talents are a very precise analysis of clues and data.

Together they get involved in a wide variety of things and somehow actually do good stuff.

A collection of the three previously released Agent Moose adventures.

MY COMMENTS

These three rather extensive adventures are written for 6-9 year old readers and are unisex oriented (my way of saying both boys and girls should enjoy them). They have a fair amount of things going on in them so this is not a case of someone zipping through them.

They were penned quite nicely by Mo O'Hara and the illustrations by Jess Bradley are very cute and definitely fit the style of storytelling.

I was pleased to find that though I opened the first one in order to learn enough to write about the series, I went on to read quite a bit more because the story was entertaining and interesting.
