Hemera is an agent with an unnamed private intelligence organization.
That is not her real name; assuming that she even has a real name anymore since it is unlikely she has the capacity to remember it. She is one of an apparently large number of beautiful women who 'work' for the organization; the quotes there used for a reason.
For all intents and purposes, Hemera is one of the living dolls, females who have undergone a strange procedure which eliminates their personalities and turns them into perfect, for the organization's needs, tools. As the moderator of these short adventure tells us, "Every day, dozens of girls pour in here for the check ups. They're routine procedures usually, and occasionally mission prep and debriefs. Each of these women have the best features: bright blue eyes that show when their pupils are dilating, long hair that can be easily styled, pouty lips." He adds each possesses "thin, tall, typical model bodies but they are packing some serious muscle beneath their womanly curves. Beauty is as necessary as strength for the jobs they have to do."
In the case of the person in question, he says, "One girl in particular is a beauty above all the rest. Her name changes every day, but we call her Hemera. Hemera is like a beautiful, sunny day, a breath of fresh warm air. She fits her name so perfectly, with her long golden hair and lightly bronzed skin." [In Greek mythology, Hemera was the personification of the day. You're welcome.]
Not a little justification here when the narrator tells us, "They may seem like slaves, but we treat these women well. Since most were destined to be drug addicts or homeless or murdered, we gave them a better life than the one they would have had otherwise. Still, I can't help but feel pity for them on occasion." The speaker, by the way, is named Colt and while he talks as though he is just one of the crew, he also claims that he is the one who created the system being used.
As we meet Hemera, she is being instilled with "personality A253B046", chosen by her handler, Holden, "a good man, always ready to jump in to help Hemera should a situation arise. And oh, situations do arise." The data is input via wires on her fingertips and a "final wire to the base of her skull". The identity chosen always matches the assignment, turning Hemera into whatever type of person she needs to be to infiltrate and eliminate as directed.
The clients for the organization are usually some department of the American government. In the case of the first target we follow Hemera on, a scenario which is fairly standard, she flies to where the target has already been located, often a foreign city, finds a way to make contact and entice him, get him alone and eliminate him, engaging in sex if directed to, and then grabbing any intel like a laptop or file and returning to her handler.
