ABOUT THE SERIES

Duncan Jax is an agent for the ISA.

That is the Interpol Spy Agency. If you did not know that Interpol, which is already a portmanteau for International Police, has a department inside it conducting covert operations, well, neither did I. Nevertheless, in this universe it does and its Director is a man known to us only as Star, an older man who is fond of wearing his light gray fedora indoors. We do not know how big ISA is or how many agents it has but it does have some pretty nifty equipment including some cool gadgets that Jax gets to use and then apparently just discard.

Jax is the ISA best agent; indeed, he would seem to be the best not-so-secret agent in the world, prone to introducing himself as "Jax, Duncan Jax" just like someone else we know. In fact, when playing roulette, which he naturally always win at, his two "usual numbers", known to croupiers all over, it seems, are 00 and 7.

Jax is a moderately handsome, albeit incredibly suave, with a moderately full head of brown hair with a slightly receding hairline. Jax is definitely a man of action and danger, as told by his own theme song which lets us know that "he walks the night between the wrong and right but he's drawn, like a moth, to the light" (no explanation of what the light is). His cool and easy demeanor, plus likely his terrific reputation, does its own attracting as women are irresistibly pulled to him and feel the need to bed him, even the ones who know that later they will have to order his demise.

A fact sheet we are provided with tells us a couple of important facts. The first is that "no matter how overwhelming the odds, no matter how great the danger, Duncan Jax, will succeed". The second is more a warning: "When you go on a mission with Duncan Jax, you may never come back".

Oh, then there is the "A hero and a half, whose best friend, Mister Boon, is more than half a hero". That last part is a bit hard to understand until you learn that Mister Boon is a baboon. That is not a dispersion. He is an actual, real baboon; rather cute in a baboon-ish sort of way. Mister Boon goes with him on all his assignments and more than handles his own weight, which really isn't that much since Jax is often seen carrying Boon.

Jax is a certified master in the ancient, secret martial arts of Ninjitsu, complete with abilities to fight with his hands, feet, sticks, swords, and throwing stars. Mister Boon is also skilled in a couple of these, especially the last one. Mister Boon is also a Ninja as well as an engine mechanic, an ultra-light pilot, and a tank driver (yep, tank).

Good Lines:
- Regarding the impenetrable fortress he must get into: "And enough electronics to spot a flea on an elephant's ass."

MY COMMENTS

Okay, where do I start? Well, I think a 'WOW' is in order.

This is usually where I tell you that I watched these movies back in the day and thought 'XYZ' about them and ... nope! Until a good friend and frequent contributor to this site sent me intel on Duncan Jax, I was happily ignorant of him. But then I read the email and started the research and ... I think I was happier before opening the mail.

Now, had I known about them, I would have so absolutely have picked them up at my favorite video rental place and would have watched them a couple times each before returning them. I was so much a huge fan of really, really bad movies, the kind that did not deserve to be called B-movies. I'd like to think my tastes have improved greatly since then (they haven't).

These movies are so very bad that ... I have to recommend them. Check the internet for places to stream them. You owe it to yourself. Or maybe not.
