A fictitious character on the US ABC crime series Castle, played fantastically by Nathan Fillion, Richard Castle is a highly successful author of the Derrick Storm spy/detective series. He has tired of the character, going so far as killing the character off in his latest book, and is looking for inspiration for his next series so he convinces his pal, the mayor of New York, to let him go on ride-along's with a detective. Kate Becket is that detective, a woman who will become Nikki Heat in Castle's new books. In addition to the Storm and Heat books, Castle has also written a good number of other suspense novels.
