The date is December 1941. Claire Griffith is the 20-year-old daughter of an American diplomat and a beautiful French aristocrat. She lived with them in Paris until the Germans arrived and the government fled to Vichy; most diplomats going as well. When her parents finally decide to flee Marseilles for the States, a secretly independent Claire would decide she had to play her own part in what was to come.
