A British agent in the Balkans has turned double. To learn the names of the other agents in the area, his new boss has come up with a plan to have Tarrant give the list of names to Modesty Blaise for checking. The bad guys intend to get it from her and to do that they use a sleeper agent, a man who has recently become the special friend of Modesty Blaise and who wants no part of the plan.
