When Ted Hammond stumbled into Ted Beckett's coffee-house beneath John Steel's office, he was desperately trying to reach Steel before dying, shot twice in the back. His death moments later coincided with a call from Steels' former boss at the British Secret Service, a man for whom Hammond had also worked. Before his death, he had reported finding Paul Emmet, a once trusted comrade who had turned traitor and given up several fellow agents to the Nazis.
