#2 in the Lawson Vampire series.
The order for Lawson to take out the vampire named Watterson was supposedly because he was selling drugs and attracting attention, a no-no in the vampire community. Lawson discovers, however, that it was really so Council member Arvella could have access to his son Jack who is an invoker and can open a portal to the spirit world and Arvella's purpose is not a good one.
