ABOUT THE SERIES

Anita Knight and Victor Volt are agents of U.Z.Z.

According to The Secret Wiki, a fun repository of trivia concerning this series, U.Z.Z. stands for Umbo Zim Zom, "which is phonetic Aztec for Defenders of the World". Obviously by that name, the mission of this secret intelligence/policing organization is the protection of the planet. Exactly how many enemies U.Z.Z. has to fight with is unknown; the main threat that the agents working for U.Z.Z. go up against is T.H.E.M. (The Horrible Evil Menace), though there are other menaces to be dealt with.

U.Z.Z. is commanded by a man whose name is changed daily for security reasons. Now, in semi-official writings it can be seen that he is referred to as "Changed Daily" but when addressed, the name he prefers is given him by his phone. Some examples of the bizarre names he has used are: Custard Nose, Chuckle-Botty, Lammy-Whammykins, Pongo Pilfilpaws, Fluffy Tummy, Oinky Doinky, Snuggle Bunny, among the tamer ones (after that they tend to get really weird). All briefings for his agents take place from his 'room whilst I lean on my trusted mantlepiece'.

The two main agents that we spend our time in the field with are Anita Knight and Victor Volt.

Knight is a blonde-haired woman dressed routinely in a purple jumpsuit. Of the two in the partnership, she is definitely the more qualified and the more intelligent and usually the more brave. She is the one who must routinely come to the saving of her partner. She says she is allergic to sea water but when she does get immersed in it, she acquires a mermaid tail.

Volt is a brown-haired man who can be found wearing a blue jumpsuit. Volt's introduction to U.Z.Z. came when he was attending a comic book convention and was asked if he wanted to be a secret agent. Volt's heart is in the right place when it comes to doing the job but his nerves often do not hold up so well and his common sense often deserts him.

Aiding both Volt and Knight with an incredible variety of nifty gadgets, some of which turn out to be harder to use than expected, is Professor Professor, a German scientist and inventor. Since sometime his devices work a bit differently than he predicts, he wisely consuls that they are "totally untested und highly dangerous".

Regarding T.H.E.M., that evil organization is headed by Doctor Doctor. She leads a team of crack agents she honestly calls the "Expendables". While all by one of these is referred to by a number on his helmet, the exception is named "Kent B. Trusted".

Other enemies to be fought by U.Z.Z. are:

"The Floaty Heads", aliens from the planet Zabulon.

"The Imposter", villains who live 90 miles beneath the surface. Their leader is called Red Eye and everyone in the group is allergic to penguins.

The Reptogators, nasty-acting reptilian creatures who live 60 miles underground. They are inNately stupid unless they eat the brains of a human.

MY COMMENTS

I had not even heard of this show until a fellow spy-fi fan sent me an email reminding me of it. I looked at YouTube for a chance to watch some episodes and found I enjoyed them a lot more than I expected. The writing was superb and the characters were a lot of fun to follow, especially the very competent Anita Knight.

I watched a few before life pulled me away but a good indication of how much I liked them is the promise to myself to make sure life brings me back for a few more episodes.
