Somali pirates, attacking a fishing boat, got far more than just fish when they get their hands on a nuclear warhead being smuggled on the vessel. Al Qaeda wants to get hold of it to hit the West with it. The North Koreans, who were going the smuggling, want it back before their culpability is learned. The CIA directs Eric Ritter to lead a very small team to get it for them but they want to make sure it is not damaged, which makes Ritter very suspicious.
